A motion assistance device has a biological signal detection means for detecting a biological signal from the wearer of the device; a motion assistance device installation member having a drive source for applying torque acting to the wearer by use of each joint of the wearer as a rotating shaft; a control means for controlling the drive source to generate torque corresponding to the biological signal detected by the biological signal detection mean; a drive torque estimation means for estimating the drive torque generated by the drive source; a joint angle detection means for detecting angular displacement of a joint; and a parameter identification means for substituting the drive torque estimated by the drive torque estimation means and the angular displacement detected by the joint angle detection means into an equation of motion to specify the wearer-specific dynamics parameter, the equation relating to the entire system and including wearer-specific dynamics parameter. The control means controls the drive source according to a predetermined control method, based on the equation of motion into which the dynamics parameter identified by the parameter identification means is substituted.

A method for controlling movement using an active powered device including an actuator, joint position sensor, muscle stress sensor, and control system. The device provides primarily muscle support although it is capable of additionally providing joint support (hence the name “active muscle assistance device”). The device is designed for operation in several modes to provide either assistance or resistance to a muscle for the purpose of enhancing mobility, preventing injury, or building muscle strength. The device is designed to operate autonomously or coupled with other like device(s) to provide simultaneous assistance or resistance to multiple muscles.

A knee prosthesis comprises an agonist-antagonist arrangement of two series-elastic actuators in parallel, including a knee joint, flexion and extension actuators connected to the joint in parallel with a leg member, and a controller for independently energizing the actuators to control the movement of the knee joint and leg. The flexion actuator comprises the series combination of a flexion motor and a flexion elastic element and the extension actuator comprises the series combination of an extension motor and an extension elastic element. Sensors provide feedback to the controller. The flexion actuator and the extension actuator may be unidirectional, with the flexion and extension elastic elements being series springs. The extension actuator may alternatively be bidirectional, with the extension elastic element being a set of pre-compressed series springs. Alternatively, the flexion elastic element may be a non-linear softening spring and the extension elastic element may be a non-linear hardening spring.

(EN)This invention relates to a servo system for operating an exoskeleton adapted to encircle an object of interest and for supplying a force thereon. A servomotor is coupled to a power source and operates the position of the exoskeleton and thus the force exerted by the exoskeleton on the object of interest. A measuring unit measures a raw driving current signal I raw suplied by the power source to drive the servomotor. A low pass filter applies a low pass frequency filtering on the measured a filtered current signal I filtered. A processing unit determines an actuated current signal I actuated based on the servomotor setting parameters, where I actuated indicates the contribution to I raw from the servomotor when operating the position of the exoskeleton. The processing unit also determines a driving force current signal I force indication the force exerted by the exoskeleton on the object of interest, where I force is proportional to the difference between I filtered and I actuated.
(FR)La présente invention concerne un servosystème pour utiliser un exosquelette adapté pour encercler un objet d’intérêt et exercer une force dessus. Un servomoteur est couplé à une source d’énergie et modifie de la position de l’exosquelette, et ainsi de la force exercée par l’exosquelette sur l’objet d’intérêt. Une unité de mesure mesure un signal de courant d’excitation brut Iraw envoyé par la source d’énergie pour commander le servomoteur. Un filtre passe-bas applique un filtrage passe-bas de fréquence sur le signal de courant filtré mesuré l’filtered. Une unité de traitement détermine un signal de courant actionné l’actuated basé sur les paramètres de réglage du servomoteur, l’actuated indiquant la contribution à l’raw à partir du servomoteur lors de la modification de la position de l’exosquelette. A wearable action-assist device which assists or executes an action of a wearer by substituting for the wearer is provided with an action-assist tool 2 having an actuator 201 which gives power to the wearer 1, a biosignal sensor 221 which detects a wearer’s biosignal, a biosignal processing unit 3 which acquires from a biosignal «a» detected by the biosignal sensor a nerve transfer signal «b» for operating a wearer’s muscular line skeletal system, and a myoelectricity signal «c» accompanied with a wearer’s muscular line activity, an optional control unit 4 which generates a command signal «d» for causing the actuator 201 to generate power according to the wearer’s intention using the nerve transfer signal «b» and the myoelectricity signal «c» acquired by the biosignal processing unit 3, and a driving current generating unit 5 which generates a current according to the nerve transfer signal b and a current according to the myoelectricity signal «c», respectively, based on the command signal «d» generated by the optional control unit 4, and supplies the currents to the actuator 201.
